Burney Starks started the Tucson Motown Revue 17 years ago as the Stars Ink
Motown Revue Show and performed for such venues as Justin's Water World; the
Tucson Urban League Gala; the Heart Foundation Ball; the Tucson Super Bowl XXX
Kick Off Event and Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week.
As True Devotion, the group has been performing at venues like the Vagabond Inn;
WOK and Sushi Restaurant; the Doubletree's Javelina Cantina and the Casino del
Sol. True Devotion has performed for a number of charity and formal private events
and was the featured entertainment group for the Tucson Firefighter's Chili Cook Off
for the six years. The group was also the opening act for Harold Melvin's Blue Notes
at the Desert Diamond Casino. Most recently, True Devotion performed for U of A
Coach Rich Rodriguez’s Blue Jean Fundraiser. True Devotion has entertained
Kiwanians at District Conventions and at the Payson Fundraiser.
These four distinguished gentlemen, Burney Starks, Rick Fuller, Floyd Robinson and
Rod Rush, along with their live D.J. and host Mr. T have come together to form the
dynamic performing group known as True Devotion Motown Revue. Motown Revue
means truly devoted to the “Motown Sound”. True Devotion features songs from such
Motown artists as the Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops,
Stevie Wonder and the Commodores and from other classic R & B groups. These are
the songs that we all grew up to and the songs we can’t help but sing along to.
So for the 2015 Southwest District Convention Governor’s Banquet – get plenty of
rest, put your dancing shoes on and be prepared to sing those songs you remember
