RIDE OVERVIEW
The Bike MS: City to Shore Ride is the second largest in the country.
Named by Bicycling Magazine as “the best cycling getaway in NJ,” the 28th
Annual Ride will attract more than 8,000 cyclists, 1,500 volunteers and
countless cheering family members to raise over $5 million during
September, 2008. Friends, family and colleagues all unite as part of over
300 teams, making up over half of the Bike Tour’s participation.
The Bike MS: PA Dutch Ride is a weekend cycling adventure that travels into
the heart of the Amish Farmlands with over 600 cyclists and 100 volunteers to
raise over $315,000. This unique ride unites with another chapter mid-way to
double in size and fundraising, with a collective finish line celebration in the
fight against MS.
To ride, cyclists raise a minimum of $250 for PA Dutch and a minimum of $300
for City to Shore, but the average cyclist raises over $700. Bike MS is a weekend adventure for all abilities
with various route options to ensure that everyone can participate. Cyclists enjoy picturesque terrain as
they travel through the New Jersey pine barrens or the PA Dutch Country and into lively, fun filled
celebratory finish lines.
Cyclists can also count on the Ride’s outstanding support including: fully-stocked rest stops
every 15 miles, lunch each day, dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday, mechanical
support along the route, transportation for weary cyclists, festive finish line celebrations and
the smiles and cheers of volunteers every pedal of the way.

Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with MS.
The National MS Society's mission is to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous
system affecting the brain, spinal cord and the optic nerves.
When people are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, they often feel an overwhelming
sense of uncertainty about their future. The course and severity of the disease is as
individual and unique as the person who has the disease; it is extremely difficult to
predict if someone will lose their eyesight, experience numbness or paralysis, have
difficulty with memory, or even lose their ability to walk.
Over 11,000 local people with multiple sclerosis count on the National MS Society for
vital research, programs, services and support.
Together, we can bike to create a world free of MS.
