• Set up by MOE in Jan 2007
- Students who could not manage mainstream
curriculum
- High attrition rate in the 2 Vocational Training
Centres (VTCs)
• A new pathway for “students at risk of dropping out”
of the education system

Profile of NLS students
•Entry level
-failed PSLE at least once(most failed twice)
-96% obtained a “U” grade for Mathematics (30
marks and below) at the Primary School Leaving
Examination (PSLE)
-55% had reading age of 7 and below
•Visual & kinesthetic learners

•Positive impact of ICT on attitudes towards school
work, quality of work & attainment, behavior &
