Geography is the science that tries to
understand how the Earth works
and how humans change it.
Geography is the study of the
earth and everything on it.

The 5 Themes of Geography originated by the
National Geographic Society to fulfill a need
for geographers (people who study the earth
and everything on it) categorize everything
they learn.

 Place
 Human-Environment Interaction

Two types of location:
absolute and relative


A place I love is the Hintonburger restaurant. Its absolute location is 1096
Wellington St W Ottawa, ON K1Y 2Y4. It is about 10 minutes west of
downtown and close to Bridgehead. The Ottawa River is just a bit North
of it. (absolute and relative LOCATION)
It is where the old KFC used to be on Wellington. There are lots of staff
who come from all different backgrounds. The main language I head
being spoken is English. It is always busy and loud.(PLACE)
The restaurant has adapted to the environment because it has air
conditioning to help handle hot Ottawa summers! It is a modified space
because it used to be KFC and so they changed it to be a burger place.
Some people depend on it for meals, and its employees depend on it for
wages and work. (H-E Interaction)
Trucks and vans make food deliveries to the Hintonburger. People bus,
drive or walk to get there. There are always lots of people sitting inside
on their laptops or on their phones. It has been written up in the
newspaper before and that has helped it become so popular. It won a
burger contest in Ottawa too (Ottawa Citizen).(MOVEMENT)
It is in Eastern Ontario, in a region of Ottawa called Hintonburg.
