PURPOSE
The Goals of the AC-SBE Alliance are to increase
the number of URM students receiving PhDs in
SBE disciplines and to increase the number of
URM students entering the SBE professoriate.

OBJECTIVES
1. Recruit and prepare undergraduates to pursue
PhD degrees in SBE fields.
2. Assist students in the transition from BS to
PhD programs.
3. Retain graduate students to complete the PhD
in SBE fields.
4. Prepare future SBE faculty for success.

Undergraduate Summer Research
Opportunities
• SBE undergraduate students from AC Alliance Schools
have preference for participating in the 10-week Summer
Pre-Graduate Research Program at UNC-Chapel Hill.
• Slots are available for up to 12 undergraduate students
from AC Alliance schools.
• Further, the University of Miami, the University of
Maryland at College Park, and Howard University have
summer research programs as well in which AC Alliance
school undergraduate students are encouraged to
participate.
