About the MIU?

• Only programs for current version are available for install
• The MIU main screen is presented differently after upgrading
to Munis V10.5
• MIU has been available for past 5 years
• Latest Version is 3.0.0.44+
What about Munis Upgrades? (e.g. V10.5, 11.3 etc.)
• Must be coordinated with Cloud (SaaS) Support

Workstation
MIU – How It Works
• The MIU is installed and run from a workstation
• It reads the program versions from the district environment in
the Cloud
• It uses this information to compare to the available programs
on the Tyler MIU server
• Reports available updates back to the MIU
• When installing selected programs the workstation receives a
package containing the selected updates
New MIU Presentation
• Same MIU version, new presentation for V10.5
Changes:
• Login prompt required when launching the MIU
• Live and Test buttons appear different
• Environment name which contains the Client # (e.g. mu9696)
• Environment with “te” at end is Test and the other Live
• Your district name
MIU Notes
Q: Why are there only 2 environments listed? Where is Train?
A: Live & Train share the programs in Live. Test has it’s own
programs
Q: Do you really need to install updates in Test?
A: Only if you use Test to try functionality.
• Most testing can be performed in Train if you don’t need to
use a new version of a program
• All MIU functions are performed by environment (Live, Test)

MIU Functions – Scheduling Updates
The MIU provides a one time scheduling function:
• Allows updates to be put in place outside business hours
• Ensures users are not in Munis when updates installed
• Does not tie up workstation creating package and loading
Notes:
• Once an update is scheduled you must leave your
workstation powered on
• Consider installing updates the next day early morning after
the evening backup
MIU Functions – Scheduling Updates
• Select updates to install
• Click the Schedule button
• A panel opens allowing you to set the date and time to
install update
• After changing date/time click the Set button
MIU Functions – Scheduling Updates
Considerations:
• Once an update is scheduled you must leave your
workstation on during the scheduled install time
• Cancel a scheduled update by selecting option from the
Updates dropdown
• You cannot schedule another update until the prior
scheduled update is complete. Attempting to do this results
in the message:
