Student Lifecycle Management

Inquiry
Graduation
Everything in between
Student Lifecycle Management
Drexel’s senior leadership and board of trustees agree
that to be successful in attracting and retaining students
through the entire student lifecycle, we must offer:
1. Quality program (academics)
2. An engaging and rich student experience
(academic, social, co-curricular)
3. Value and affordability
Student Lifecycle Management
Primary Goals:
• To protect current and eventually grow Net Tuition
Revenue
• To increase “right fit” application, and therefore, to
increase yield
• To maintain or improve student preparedness and
ability
• To increase retention by ensuring that we continue to
enable student success
• To improve graduation rate
Student Lifecycle Management
Committees:
• Advising Task Force
• Orientation and New Student “Onboarding”
• Registration
• Advising Technology
• Annual Bill Transition
• Integrated Communications
Student Lifecycle Management
The solution is to design the right
class, keep the class engaged
throughout their time at Drexel,
and see them through to
graduation.

Student Lifecycle Management
A recent survey of 271 students who withdrew from Drexel indicates that financial considerations
were the most significant—although not the only— factor in their decision. The recommended SLM
strategies for recruiting, admitting, and retaining students are designed to mitigate these challenges.

Student Lifecycle Management
1. Redesign Drexel’s Selection Process
• Focus on academic fit to major
• Increase involvement of schools in selection process
2. Implement a Need-based Financial Aid Strategy
• Use merit-based scholarships to attract top talent
Student Lifecycle Management
3. Enhance Student Services
• Enhance academic advising
• Remove administrative burdens on students (e.g.,
Drexel Central)
4. Increase Focus on Student Engagement
