Chalk Experiment
By Emily Williams
What is Vinegar?
Vinegar is acid.
 Acid slowly reacts chemically with the
chalk.
 An acid is a substance that increases the
concentration of hydrogen ions.

What is chalk?
Chalk is a form of limestone.
 Limestone is a mineral that chemically
changes into a new substance.
 The chalk chemically changes when it’s
touched by acid.

What the Experiment is Testing
I
am testing to see what happens to chalk when its
touched by acid.
Experiment
Fill a glass full of vinegar.
 Put a piece of chalk in the glass.
 Then you see what happens to the piece of
chalk.

Results
The results show the piece of chalk had a
chemical reaction with the vinegar.
 That made the chalk have bubbles come up
from the chalk.
 The bubbles came up in very straight lines.
 The bubbles came fast at first but then
started to slow down.

