Chalk Experiment
By Emily Williams
What is Vinegar?
Vinegar is acid.
Acid slowly reacts chemically with the
chalk.
An acid is a substance that increases the
concentration of hydrogen ions.
What is chalk?
Chalk is a form of limestone.
Limestone is a mineral that chemically
changes into a new substance.
The chalk chemically changes when it’s
touched by acid.
What the Experiment is Testing
I
am testing to see what happens to chalk when its
touched by acid.
Experiment
Fill a glass full of vinegar.
Put a piece of chalk in the glass.
Then you see what happens to the piece of
chalk.
Results
The results show the piece of chalk had a
chemical reaction with the vinegar.
That made the chalk have bubbles come up
from the chalk.
The bubbles came up in very straight lines.
The bubbles came fast at first but then
started to slow down.
