Pronouns
A word that takes the place of a
noun
Nouns ?
A noun is:
a person
like “Luke” or “Boy”
a place
like “Ohio” or “school”
a thing
like “desk” or “yard”
Or
an idea
like “love” or “feelings”
A pronoun replaces a regular
noun
…but remember, a pronoun IS still
a noun - it is just a specific kind of
a noun

How do they work?
 Without pronouns, sentences would just not
sound right.
 Example:
Luke went to Luke’s house and Luke turned off
Luke’s TV after Luke watched Luke’s TV.
Pronouns make this better:
Luke went to his house and he turned off his TV after
he watched it.
