6. Role and responsibility of partner
Role of ministries:
•
•
•
•
•
Play role as trainer
Organize the training in all provinces
Invite all participants from district/hospital to attend the training
Coordination with provincial level and follow up data sending to
central level
Provide feedback the quality of the form to provincial level
Role of HIB:
•
•
•
•
•
Provide technical support
Provide presentation in training
Support fund for the training
Provide material in the training
Provide feedback the quality of the form to ministries

7. Global Positioning System (GPS)
 The traffic police and health reports are covering just a
limited part of the reported crash and casualties.
 Road safety can only be improved when we understand the
causes and consequences of road accidents/collisions
 Analyzing the causes and consequences of crashes are
important to work out remedial measures
 GPS and GIS are new standard and tools should be
included into database
 July 2006, HIB provided 15 GPS devices to Reussei Keo
traffic police in Phnom Penh for pilot phase.
9
7. Global Positioning System (GPS)
 In 2007, GPS using extended to 24 provinces.
 Training on the us of GPS also provide to traffic polices
 The benefit of using GPS device allowing us now to exactly
locate crashes, using GIS data.
 The data has been used to identify the blackspot of crashes
and understand the nature of crash.
 Provide information related to priority action to remedial the
blackspot location.

9. Understand the use of ArcView GIS
What is Arcview?
• a powerful, easy-to-use tool that brings geographic
information to your desktop
• power to visualize, explore, query and analyze
data spatially
• made by Environmental Systems Research
Institute (ESRI), the makers of ARC/INFO
• don't need to know how to create geographic data
in order to use ArcView
• Available extensions for your need

9. Understand the use of ArcView GIS
What is View?
interactive map that lets you display, explore, query
and analyze geographic data in ArcView.
Create a view:
1. Open a project
2. Select on Views in project window
3. Click on New. A view will be shown

What is a theme?
Is a set of geographic features in a view. A theme
represents a source of geographic data such as:
 A spatial data source such as an ARC/INFO
coverage, ArcView shapefile.
 A CAD drawing such as an AutoCAD drawing
 An image data source such as a satellite photo.
 A table containing XY coordinates, street
addresses that can be geocoded

What is a Extensions?
Allowing you to enhance your working environment with
additional objects, scripts and customization independent of
the current project. Extensions are a great way to share your
favorite button or an interesting View document with your
colleagues and because the extension installs its own
components, even beginning ArcView users can easily use
them.
What is a VPF?
The Vector Product Format (VPF) is a standard format,
structure, and organization for large geographic databases that
are based on a georelational data model.

Adding Table:
Adding tables contain in the exact position of features
as XY coordinates. XY coordinates can be obtained
by reading a map, measuring positions on a view,
field surveying, using a GPS (Global Positioning
System) receiver, geocoding the table that contains
address information.
