After school
The Primary School
• at the age of 6 you go to the first
class in the primary school
• subjects:German,Maths,English(from
third class) ,Music, Art, Sport,
Ethics/Religion
• you have to go to the primary school
4 years
And now? After the
Primary School
• When your marks are very good and
good(1-2) you can attend the grammar
school ( in German: Gymnasium)
• When your marks are not so good, you have
to attend the intermediate school
(Realschule), the secondary general
school(Hauptschule) or the comprehensive
school (Gesamtschule)
• But when you pass an exam you can also go
to a grammar school.
Secondary School
(Sekundarschule)
• offers: intermediate school classes and
secondary general school classes
• in classes 8 and 9 the students have to do
an internship/ a practical training
• secondary general school qualification is
after 9 school years
• intermediate school qualification is after
10 school years
The Grammar School
(Gymnasium)
• classes: 5 till 12
• your qualification is “Abitur“ (A level)
• core subjects: German, Maths, foreign
languages
• You also have: Biology, Chemistry, Physics,
Music, Geography, History, P.E,..
• the students get a good educational
background
The Comprehensive
School
• different classes-> grammar school
classes, intermediate school classes,
secondary school classes
• qualification: “Abitur“(A level),
intermediate school qualification,
secondary general school
qualification

After School
• you can be a student and study at a
University
• you can attend the vocational school
• you can do an internship
• you have so many options
