*Grad 2013 * Saturday, June 8, 11:00 am. * Guests – each student can invite 6 people to sit on the floor, the rest must go to balcony. * Formal – dress appropriately , Gentlemen in shirt and tie, Ladies in pant or skirt outfit….try to avoid open-toed shoes. * Rehearsals – held the week prior to grad * On-line – you must be on-line to graduate to participate in the ceremonies. * Grad Transitions must be complete by May, 24th * *This gives us information to say about you when you receive your graduation certificate or when you receive scholarships or bursaries. *Anything inappropriate, double meaning, embarrassing will not be read. *Please fill out online form and email to [email protected] Due Friday, March 8th. * Differences between scholarships, bursaries, awards: *Scholarship is based on academic performance. *Bursaries are based on financial needs and specific criteria. *Awards have specific requirements that may not be based on academics or financial need. * How to find everything *School Website- Scholarship & Bursary Information *Name of award and criteria listed. Application forms available. Open, type directly on the form, save and then email to [email protected] * When applying for scholarships, bursaries, awards: Two types: 1) Donor Decided- *All require a separate letter *Some have individual application forms. You can find them on our website under ‘donor decided awards’ *Mail application or letter directly to the donating organization or submit to office by March 8th, 2013. * Sample Letter: *Most important part of the letter is to demonstrate how you fit the criteria. *Sell yourself *GPA Calculations – A=4, B=3, C+=2.5, C=2, C-=1, F=0. *Sample Letters are found in the Scholarship Package on the website. * 2) Committee Decided: *OSS Scholarship and Bursary Committee decides based on criteria from the donor or by need. *Go to school website complete checklist, and email to [email protected] * Dogwood District/Authority Award (District Scholarship Award): *3 x $1000 scholarships. *Must attend a post-secondary institution or program. *Canadian citizen or landed immigrant *Superior Achievement in Fine Arts, Applied Skills, Physical Activity, Second Languages ($1000 each) *Must demonstrate proficiency in one the areas to the OSS committee (presentation). *Application found in Scholarship and Bursary Information on school website – complete and email [email protected] by March 8th . Presentations will take place on May 21st. * * Thank You Letters *So important, So important, So important. *Lost three scholarships in last two years because students did not send a thank you letter. *See sample thank you letters in package on website.
