(Vocational Education & Training) Courses
Pathways include State Training Providers/TAFE,
Apprenticeship, Traineeship
• Practical emphasis together with theory in school. Some
courses include National VET competencies and lead to
Certificate courses in Year 12.
• Certificate (VET) stand alone courses e.g. Cert II Business -
students can achieve a National Qualification, which will make
them very competitive for State Training Provider (STP/TAFE)
entry.
• Some students may have a course which requires them to be
out of school one day per week e.g. STP/TAFE or Workplace

General pathways advice
Typically:
• University bound students study courses at Stage 2 and Stage
3 units over Year 11 & 12 (minimum of four at this level). In the
final year – Year 12, all or most of the units are studied at
Stage 3.
• Students who are planning on going into STP/TAFE, training or
directly into the workforce, study a mixture of VET Certificates;
Stage 1 and Stage 2 units (mainly stage 1), or all stage 1 units
in years 11 and 12.

& 1C/1D MDT in Yr 12. This option will gain you grades
from each course and deliver a Certificate II in Engineering
over Years 11&12.

You may wish to consider attending ONE of STP/TAFE or
Work Place Learning, one day a week. If so tick () in

- If you select Work Place Learning, then you need
to make this your 6th course.
- If you select STP/TAFE, ONCE it is confirmed that
you are enrolled at STP/TAFE, you may then drop one of
the 6 selected courses. This means you will study 5

three (3) of the other courses must be at Stage 2 in Year 11.
• Students can select from a VET pathway to enable them to
achieve a Certificate II in Year 12.
• Students will sit external WACE exams in Stage 3 courses
at the end of 2015. Stage 2 course WACE exams will be
optional.

Select and complete the preferred Package A, B or C.
Ensure that you meet the minimum requirements
(prerequisites) for each course & follow teacher’s advice
from the RECOMMENDATIONS sheet.
Gain a signature of endorsement from the appropriate
teacher if the entry on the Recommendations sheet is blank
against any one course you have selected. The teacher
may decline.
Ensure at least one list A and one list B course.

Most students get their six courses.
If not, then two courses occur at the same time or the

2014 needs to be done by the end of Week 5, Term One.
