1946/1960
INRA was one of the principal actors in the modernisation
of farming.
1960/1980
Through its research and innovation, INRA contributed
to the development of the French agrifood sector.
1980/2000
The Institute integrated new and fundamental technologies
in the life sciences (biotechnologies, molecular biology,
genetic engineering…) in response to new environmental
and consumer demands.

• Sustainable development & agriculture
• Human nutrition & diet
• GMO
• Plant genomics
• Animal genomics
• Biodiversity
New coming Program
• Large scale Microbes Genomic (2007)
The projects involving INRA teams:
14 M€ in 2006 (financial resource for INRA)
What’s new regarding INRA position
inside the French Research System?
 New contract 2006-2009 with the Government
(Research and Agriculture) - October, 3, 2006.
 French Initiative for International Agricultural Research (IFRAI),
a new tool built with CIRAD (French Agricultural Research
for developing countries), May 2007.
 INRA is the Corner Stone for the Agricultural Research Foundation
in Montpellier (RTRA with Cirad and SupAgro) and part of 3 other
networks (Economics - Paris, Toulouse / Infectiology Lyon), 2007
 INRA contributes to 14 National Clusters for industry, with a key role
in new Crops (Angers) and Non Food Ag (Lille-Reims).
INRA in the European Research Area
 144 projects
 40 projects coordinated
