Well documented and Enforced Legislation:The European Directives(89/686/EEC and 89/656/EEC) lays down the basic safety requirements which equipment must satisfy in order to ensure the health and safety of users. The onus is on the EMPLOYER to identify the risks at jobs and ensure appropriate protection is given to the employee More Value of Human Life Easy Availability of PPE Ample Testing and certificatation facilities Higher awareness of safety issues Safety is not compromised at the alter of “cost saving”

 The biggest single hazard identified :

is heat and flame

 All protective clothing are defined as per EN Norms  The End users spend

twice as much on Protective clothing

as on other PPE  Trained Health and Safety personnel

Latent Demand

 Latent Demand – Are opportunities for Protech's around us needing a CATALYST to make them real.

 I share few examples based on my experience of the last few months interacting with different industries around the country

Risks of Fire

Fire Risks

In the few seconds of exposure to fire – the fabric has Caught fire, it has penetrated inside, the man is an Infern

Workers Without Proper PPE

Way Forward

 FR clothing must be made mandatory in the high risk industries of Petrochem where still conventional clothing are been used in most cos.

 Electrical Utilities workers are faced with the risk of Electric Arc and need appropriate clothing.

 Legislative inputs to make Employer more accountable to identify and protect the employees and its implementation  Standards to be established which make it easy for cos to source instead of every co trying to create one.

 Creating awareness - www.technotex.com is a GREAT step
