As ocean catches of seafood continue to decline, aquaculture production
must increase to meet rising seafood demands. This workshop will
discuss practical aspects of aquaculture enterprise development.
Speakers include: Dr. Gary Burtle, University of Georgia, Designing
fish feeds for recirculating systems. Mr. Sandy Shepherd,
Georgia Dept. of Agriculture, How safe is imported seafood?; Dr.
Pat Duncan, Director, GCAD, FVSU, Keys to success in
aquaponics: Mr. James Jackson, Farm Service Agency, USDA,
How to finance your farm; Tours of on-campus greenhouses with
RAS, aquaponic systems, tilapia and other species will be
provided.
