CHARTER
CRITERIA REQUIRED FOR JOINING THE BBC COORDINATING
ASSOCIATION OF PATIENTS’ ORGANIZATIONS
This BBC coordinating Association gathering Neurological and Psychiatric Patients ‘ Organizations
has been created according to certain criteria:

Patients’ Organization must be a member of the BBC
It must be a “a.s.b.l. “ (with official criteria of operation and structure)
having a Scientific Council in addition to the obligatory board of directors (in order to preach an operation of quality )
to adhere to the BBC Charter of a will of synergy and continuity of action together with the other
Patients’Organizations, with an aim of

promoting the recognition of the true cost caused by the neurological and psychiatric diseases
•
and helping the promotion of neurosciences research.
The advantages of such a platform?:

new dialogue and synergy between Dutch-speaking, French-speaking and German-speaking Belgian Associations
new crenel of informative publicity via the BBC and its other professional associations: for instance,

Does Health care Economy have a human Soul ???
Ethics would have to select the most fair solutions for human beings, without taking into account the cost of health
care.
But of course, in our economic societies, close linkages exist between Health care Ethics and Economy.
Before using just an adding machine, we must choose our humanitarian and ethical priorities.
It’s a question of moral dignitiy and even of human liberty.
But, when we have chosen ethically, we know that ciphers will guide our final medical and non medical strategies.
Actually, if health care economy is based on ethical choices, it’s hard to have to say that ethics costs.
And obviously our choices cost to the community .
We must continuously negociate between economy and ethics, efficiency and equity,
hoping that our jointed steps open new doors and possibilities to come up to patients and their relatives healthgiving expectations.

proposes to the patients’associations
a simplified questionnaire
to allow easy and usefull comparisons during the different stages of evolution disease,
pointing out the many-sided reality

Which has been divided into two main parts:
•A standard questionnaire, common to all the diseases analysed
•A specific questionnaire for each disease
Which would be stratified according age, gender, disorder severity,……
but besides trying to take also into account the so-called intangible costs such as
suffering and following depression, loss of quality of life, loss of relative support
professional activity, loss of the opportunity for pleasant leisures, for health-giving
holidays or just for cultural activities, etc…., etc……

Quatre réponses possibles peuvent être fournies, à savoir :
˜ Pas de difficultés, pas d’efforts particuliers, pas d’équipements particuliers : aucun point n’est octroyé
˜ Difficultés minimes, ou efforts supplémentaires minimes, ou recours minime à des équipements
particuliers : 1 point est octroyé
˜ Difficultés importantes ou efforts supplémentaires importants ou recours important à des équipements
particuliers : 2 points sont octroyés
˜ Impossible sans l’aide d’une tierce personne ou impossible sans accueil dans un établissement approprié
