Module Goals

The goal of this module is to:
Review how to install and connect the Vehicle
Gateway Base Station (VGB) system. In addition,
review how to use the VGB to collect meter data,
and store and maintain the VGB system.

The VGB System: Purpose and Capabilities
Vehicle Gateway Base Station
Purpose
• Acquire data from utility meters and other fieldbased diagnostic instruments for input into data
collection software through use of radio frequency
(RF) technology.
Capabilities
• Reads 510 and 520 SmartPoints
• Range of up to 2 miles (Terrain Dependant)
