Booting VBL Performance Project
The Lucerne Public Transport Authority (VBL), of Lucerne,
Switzerland is an independent transport company owned by
the city of Lucerne. The job of VBL is to provide coordinated
public transportation services (primarily bus and trolleybus)
to the approximately 200,000 citizen of the Lucerne area,
not to mention numerous tourists and visitors.

 Need minimum 5,000 IOPS for eliminating I/O bursts.
 The ICT infrastructure of VBL was processing larger and larger
amounts of data. Day after day, the system was oversubscribed,
which prevented smooth operation of the network.

Dorado5100 Solution of DAL
Deutsche Afrika-Linien (DAL) is a large voyage
transportation company whose services cover
Europe, Africa, North America, and South America.
DAL's services include shipping, warehousing, land
transportation, cargo handling, and shipping
management.

Background & Challenges
The DAL uses the self-developed MAP system. Based on the Oracle 11g
database, the MAP system supports both the online transaction processing
(OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP). The data processing must
be completed before 6:00 in the next morning to ensure smooth running of
services.
Due to service expansion, the number of the predicted daily transactions
will reach 150,000. Data consolidation and report output must be complete
within 3 hours at night to ensure that operations at night have no impact on
services next day.
Huawei Solution
Dorado5100 is used to replace the DS8300 and DS4800 managed by IBM
SVC , serving as the primary storage system of the Oracle database.

The data consolidation and plan generation time is reduced to 15 minutes,

Both the customer's services and sales volume grow by 50%. Plans are
generated in a timely manner. Costs for warehousing and ship scheduling

The Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) ranked No. 7 in The Banker's ''Top 1000 World
Banks'' list in terms of profit before tax for the year of 2010. The brand value reaches
USD 9.929 billion and ranked No. 18.
The new core service system will be provisioned. The network architecture must meet
requirements of the core service system and service development in the incoming ten
years.
The tier-1 branch networks and backbone network were reconstructed. After
reconstruction, the data center provides strong service guarantee for the headquarters,
36 tier-1 branches, 19,573 establishments, and 23,461 Chinese branch outlets.

Each tier-1 data center uses four CE12800s. Two CE12800s function as core devices of the
production network, and the other two function as core devices of the office network.
Each tier-1 data center connects to Huawei high-end routers and two national data centers
at a high speed.
CE12800s use VRF virtualization technology to separate service traffic from different
branches and zones.
