EPP means
“products or services that have a lesser or
reduced effect on human health and the
environment when compared with
competing products or services that serve
the same purpose.”
EPP is one of over 70 programs in the
city's Sustainability Report

Why Use EPP Products?
Recycled Aluminum Cans:
–95% less energy than virgin cans
Energy Star Computers & Monitors:
–Purchasing over 3,000 energy efficient
computers reduced greenhouse gases equivalent
to removing 168 cars (2007 Green Electronics
Champion)
Less Toxic Cleaning Products:
–Reduces health risks to janitorial staff and
building occupants while protecting the
environment.
EPP Products Include:
Recycled content products (e.g.
recycled plastic furniture, carpet)
Energy conserving products such as
fluorescent lights
Less toxic products, such as
cleaners
Bio-based products, such as inks

– Integrate new contract provisions for more
sustainable products and services
– Consider price, performance and
environmental effects over lifecycle
– Support manufacturers and vendors with
green products
– Encourage other buyers and consumers to
