Elizabethan Era
Introduction
Slide One: Introduce the Topic
• Your first slide, or slides, should grab the readers attention and
introduce the topic VERY clearly, previewing what is to follow:
• Use an interesting fact, quote or visual/ multimedia aid to hook
your audience on the topic
• Clearly outline what your topic is so the audience knows what
your information is focused on
• Organize your ideas and concepts into categories
Information Slides
Slides 2-?: Your Information
• The majority of your slides will focus on answering your questions
(from your topic handout). You can organize your slides by
either:
• A broad topic (social activities, punishments, landmarks)
• A direct question from the handout
Slides 2-?: Your Organization
• Always include a relevant title (see above)
• Include specific example, quotes and definitions. For instance,
“a common beverage is sak which is wine sweetened with
sugar.” OR “ during the Elizabethan Era people began eating
more foods from the New World such as corn, potatoes and
sugar.”
• If there is a term the audience might not know, INCLUDE THE
DEFINTIION. THERE SHOULD BE AT LEAST 3 DEFINITIONS IN THE
PRESENTATION.
Visual Aids
• Scattered throughout the presentation should be a minimum of
5 visual aids pictures, artifacts, sound bites, and video clips.
ALWAYS PROVIDE A DESCRIPTION OF THESE VISUAL AIDS.

Transitions
• USE TRANSITIONS TO CHANGE TOPICS! Providing a transition slide,
helps prepare the audience for the new topic.
• Your transition slide should have the new topic title and also may
include an attention grabbing quote, fact or visual aid.
Conclusion
Concluding Slide
• One of your last slides should be your conclusion.
• Use this slide to wrap up your topic and leave the audience fully
understanding your topic
• USE THIS SLIDE TO INFORM THE AUDIENCE WHY YOUR TOPIC IS
IMPORTANT TO THE ERA AND TO SHAKESPERE.
Formal Style
Formal Style Tips
• Make sure you have a title that is capitalized!
• Make sure your font sizes and styles are big and clear enough for
the audience to read (44 for titles, 24 for slides)
• Have an appealing colour scheme and background. While
some picture background looks great, make sure the audience
can read the information on each slide.
• Don’t crowd the slide. Do not jam tons of information into a slide,
instead use two slides.
More Style Tips
• You DO NOT need to include all the information on the slides,
you can orally explain some facts to the audience.
• Make sure your information is easy for the audience to
understand: the slides are for the audience, not the presenter!
• Write in full sentences with proper capitalization, spelling and
grammar.
• Take advantage of different styles such as bold, italics and
underlining to help the audience locate key information.
Fancy Formal Style
• If you want to get really fancy ( which I suggest if you want
excellent on formal style) you should include one of more of the
following:
• Transitions
• Music
• Hyperlinks to video clips or other visual aids/ primary sources
• Elizabethan themed font and background colours. REMEMBER
THE AUIDENCE HAS TO BE ABLE TO READ THE INFORMATION!
Bibliography
Bibliography
• Your last slide needs to be your bibliography
• Your sources need to be in MLA format
• You need to have 9 sources (four information, 5 visual aids)
• For visual aids you may use Wikipedia or Google Images BUT they
still need to be properly cited using MLA
