1946 (August 11) : The College of Engineering at Seoul National University was founded. At this time, the College of Engineering was comprised of ten academic departments: Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Naval Architecture and Aeronautics, and Textile Engineering.

1980 : Campus moved from Kongneung to Kwanak 1996 : New Engineering complex with modern facilities was opened

PRESENT

The College of Engineering is comprised of six schools, four departments, and five interdisciplinary programs, with an enrollment of approximately 5,246 undergraduate and 3,426 graduate students. Its stellar faculty includes winners of the National Medal of Engineering and other prestigious honors. Additionally, many faculty members conduct leading roles in education and research in domestic and international societies. The College of Engineering has also strong ties to industry and contributes to the development of innovative technologies.

College of Engineering Seoul National University GLOBAL CO-LECTURE

The Global Product Development

A one-semester course offered by School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering To teach graduate students the concept involved in the definition of the global product and the systematic methodologies for the design and manufacturing of the global product. It is open to three universities from each of three continents: University of Michigan, Oxford University and Seoul National University. The lectures are delivered simultaneously by using video conference facility and the Internet connection.

The Creative Engineering Design

A one-semester course offered by School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

To teach basic skills to design, fabricate and test electro-mechanical device through hands-on experience. The major efforts in this course are on two aspects: 1) creativity and 2) engineering experience.

We select 4-6 best students based on the results of the contest, creativity, popularity, etc. These students will probably join the International Design Contest (IDC). The participating universities are Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Technical University of Darmstadt, Cambridge University, University of Sao Paulo, and Seoul National University.
