NATIONAL CENTER FOR
SIMULATION (NCS)
• 501c(3) not-for-profit member corporation in Orlando, FL
• More than 150 U.S. & international members, with a high
concentration in Central FL
• The link between government, industry & academia to attract, grow,
maintain & enhance the MS&T Industry in Central Florida
• Promotes the transfer of defense MS&T technology to other
applications: healthcare, education, homeland security,
transportation, digital media, serious games & entertainment
• Supports MS&T awareness & public policy development
• Supports Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)
education & workforce development programs

new President & have a frank discussion with Membership
about first 60 days & vision for the future
– Win back credibility & grow the NCS Membership
– Outreach to inform & educate everyone who would listen
about a key segment of Florida’s diversified economy
– Listen to the Membership, seek their counsel & act
– Move the Medical MS&T Initiative forward

– Infrastructure Grant Applications (3) to Enterprise
Florida in support of Naval Support Activity (NSA)

– Co-sponsored by the Orange County Research &
Development Authority (OCRDA) & NCS to fund:
• A Visitors & Business Center next to new gate off of Science
Drive ($499K)
• Phase IV of the Federal, State, University (FEDSUN)
Network installation—to replace pull-boxes, lay conduit &
install additional fiber optic cable ($346K)
• Installation of a Turnstile entry gate between Partnership III
and NSA ($49K)

THE NEXT 6 MONTHS
• A breakfast Event with Industry to introduce GrowFL Initiative,
12 Aug
• A breakfast Event with Members to kick-off the FY 12
Appropriations Process—TBD Mid-Sep
– Apply AAR observations to improve the process
– Key objective: Attract wider Member Company participation & secure
funding for worthy projects
• A second Membership Night, TBD Sep
• Possible Medical MS&T Conference to introduce the Florida
Alliance for Simulation in Healthcare (FLASH)
• Outreach in every forum willing to listen
• I/ITSEC 2010—partner with UCF/IST, EDC, Member
