Complexity Levels
New Developments are
Required
The information,
methodologies and
current tools require
adjustments to respond
to additional
information needs
Countries must determine the
demand structure, taking into
account their epidemiological
profile, socioeconomic context and
health system situation. Countries
may request support from the
WHO/PAHO, according to
particular needs. In the current
models the risk estimate must be
included as well as the potential
impact of population intervention
against the pandemic.
Adjustments are
required to what is
available
The PAHO must support the
development of strategies for inter
sector work, as well as protocols for
working at an outpatient and
domiciliary level.

There is enough
information
PAHO can support the development
of guides and protocols for the
organization and functioning of non
conventional centers for attention in
an influenza pandemic situation. The
Emergency and Disaster Committees
have experience in the
implementation of non conventional
establishments that must be adopted
for a pandemic situation.
It is necessary to give more
importance to primary health

Requirements to be developed
by the WHO/PAHO through
expert networks
The development of
methodologies and criteria must
be supported in order to calculate
the requirements of a basic or
minimum stock of supplies
necessary for an influenza
pandemic. It is requested that the
PAHO disseminate experiences on
this topic, such as the one in
Mexico.

Requirements to be developed by the
WHO/PHO through expert networks
Appropriate norms must be detailed at an
ambulatory and domiciliary level
It is necessary to create additional
information to protect ambulatory
attention personnel. The PHO can support
disseminating information to countries
that have advances such as Chile and
Mexico. It can also support countries that
have to develop standards and support
dissemination with the member countries.
