What is an Interactive
Notebook?
O Interactive Notebooks (INs) are a tool to
strengthen student learning of curriculum
(the input) through increased student
participation (the output).

Materials Needed:
O Notebook
O Pens/Pencils
O Glue
O Scissors
O Highlighter
O Coloring Supplies
O A Willingness to Work on Organization
Getting Started…
O On the BACK COVER, glue your;
O Partner Sign-Up
O Journal Calendar
O Count approx. 15 pages from the back. This
will be your journal section.
O Fold a triangle page to section it off
Inside Cover
O Glue the grading rubric
O Notebooks will be graded 1-2 times a
quarter during “Notebook Week”
O I will grade 5-10 a day during that week…just
remember I could call on you ANY DAY that
week.

O This is for the end of each unit.
O There is NO required length.
O Therefore, it will start on the left and could
continue on the right.
O A high-quality reflection is 1-2 pages in
length
O Use the ideas on this page to guide you
through your reflection
