Introductions:

-Administrators/Counselors/Students have
visited all elementary schools this month.
-5th Graders come to NMS on May 2nd for ½ day!
Summer Dates to Remember:
-Orientation: July 31, August 1st and 5th, 8:0011:30 or 1:00-3:30 Open house format. More
information in summer mailing.
-Jump Start: July 30th, 8:00-11:00
-First day of School – August 11th, ½ day for
6th graders
The School Day is from 7:45-3:00
Supervision starts at 7:20 a.m.
Afternoon Supervision is from 3:00-3:20
8 periods each day: 43 minutes long
Homeroom each day from 7:45-8:15
6 periods are Team Classes
Math, English, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and
Guided Study
2 periods are Special Area
Physical Education/World Language (A and B days)
Music, Computers, Foods, Health, Industrial Technology,
Art
Lunch is 30 minutes each day and is during period 5

-This is a time for students to complete work
-Within first hexter, students are grouped to meet
specific needs.
-Band, Chorus, and Orchestra students are pulled
from Guided Study and meet twice a week.

Intramural sports are played here at NMS and students
play others students from NMS.

Math placement is based off of where students were as
5th graders.
Students were placed in one of the following:
Math 6, Challenge Math, or Pre-Algebra
You should have received a letter with your student’s
math placement. If you have not received a letter,
please let me know after the meeting.

40 years.
IB is offered in 141 countries and Millard is one of only 24
school districts to offer all three levels of this program.
Focuses on the development of intellectual, personal,
emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a
highly global society.

increasingly interrelated world and to foster a positive
attitude toward learning.
Emphasis on relating the classroom content to the outside

interested in signing up.

Enrollment is limited. First come, first serve.
3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Parents/guardians pick up students on the West
side of the building.

5th Grade Student Orientation
5th grade students come to NMS for ½ day. Students will eat
lunch, meet teachers, tour the building and make new friends!
12:00 p.m. – 2:40 p.m. (buses provided for Morton, Harvey
Oaks, and Cody)
May 16th
5th Grade Jump Start Registration due to NMS
July 30th
Jumpstart at NMS 8:00-11:00
Students come to NMS to talk with teachers, open lockers, and
ask questions to be more prepared for the first day.
July 31st
6th Grade Orientation at North Middle School
-Information to arrive by mail this summer.
