In an effort to reduce water demands and increase local supplies, MET’s Five Year Water Supply Plan will: Seek additional water transfers Work on near-term Delta improvements Accelerate local resource projects Increase conservation efforts

MET estimates Conservation can save up to 200,000 AF per year. To achieve this savings MET has: Developed a Ordinance Library Developed a Model Ordinance Scheduled two stakeholder workshops Proposing a Prerequisite Policy

MET Prerequisite Policy
In order to encourage water agencies to adopt/update their water ordinances, MET is linking access to funding in the following programs:

Enhanced conservation grants –$2 Million/year

Public Sector Program –$15 Million/year Turf Removal Pilot Program –$7 Million/year

New Local Resource Projects –$ >20 Million/year

Based on the concerns and issues raised, MWDOC staff would recommend the following:

One year time period to report back to the MET board as to the status of agencies’ ordinances
