Page set-up: the basics
 Your page must have 1-inch margins
 Acceptable fonts:
 Times-New Roman, or
 Arial
 Size
 12 point font
Page set up: Getting started
 Click File
 Click Page Setup
Page Setup- Margins
 Set margins to 1-inch




Top
Bottom
Left
Right
 Click OK
Page Setup: Font
 Select Font
 Choose Times
New Roman or
Arial
 Select Size
 Choose 12 point
Page header instructions
 Click on View
 Select Header and
Footer
Header instructions (cont’d)
 Click on Align Right
 Type your last name
 Add a space after
your name
Adding page # to header
 Click on Icon
to insert the page number
 Note: this inserts it into every page and it will be
correctly numbered
 Your paper is now properly numbered
 Click on Close to complete this section.
Page formatting –line spacing
 Step 1 –set line
spacing
 Click on Line
spacing icon
 Set to 2.0 (it will
now be doublespaced)
Add Name, Teacher, Class, Date
Title
 Add title of your paper
 Click the Center button to center it on the page
Note: the title is not in bold print or underlined
Begin your paper
 After typing your title, click on Enter
 Click Tab
 Begin typing your essay
New paragraph
 After concluding a paragraph
 Click Enter
 Click Tab, begin typing the next paragraph
Proper format of paragraphs
 Note the centered title, indented paragraphs and line
spacing (double-spaced)
