It's a way of increasing the credit we give to (learning
which takes place on) placements.
It makes the placement route more attractive to students.
It improves students' employability skills.
It creates a situation in which students will have to engage
deeply with some subject matter to consolidate their
learning in that area.
It is an excellent opportunity to capture and capitalise on
'inspirational learning' (Keith Radley, LTI).
It will give us material we can use for Open Days,
Placement Preparation and Promotion, and possibly
teaching in the relevant subject areas.
It provides students with a unique group working
experience they can talk about enthusiastically at
interview.
