Training Transformation Objectives
• Strengthen joint operations by preparing forces for new warfighting
concepts
• Continuously improve joint force readiness by aligning joint
education and training capabilities and resources with combatant
command needs
• Develop individuals and organizations that think and act joint

emerging crises

Joint Knowledge Development and Distribution Capability
(Preparing Forces Individually)
• Continuous career-long development of joint knowledge (through
learning, education and training) to prepare individuals to:
– Understand and conduct joint operational art
– Understand the common relevant operating picture
– respond innovatively to adversaries
• Distribute knowledge to DoD personnel anytime, anywhere
– Network-centric distribution
– Harness advanced information technology tools (e.g., Advance
Distributed Learning)

(Preparing Forces Collectively)
• Provide units and staffs an environment for realistic joint exercises
against aggressive, free-playing opposing forces, with credible feedback
• Based on an integrated live, virtual and constructive simulation environment,
available 24/7 and linked to real-world C2 systems
• Focuses collective training in four key areas:
– Horizontal Training—Build on existing service interoperability training
– Vertical Training—Link component, joint command, and staff planning/execution
– Integration Training—Enhance joint interoperability training in joint context
– Functions Training—Provide Joint training environment for functional warfighting
and complex joint tasks
• Management and Oversight
– Joint Management Office (JFCOM Lead)
