Quality Assurance

MCL Unitex Ltd manufacture their
seal and enclosure systems to strict
quality control procedures and
practices in accordance with the
requirements of ISO 9001.

Formal accreditation is held through
BSI who audit our operations
annually.
Health & Safety

MCL’s seals and enclosures are multi-component systems
made up from ceramic and glass cloths and felts, metallic
foils, silica areogel insulation and high grade stainless steels.
Ceramic blankets have been replaced by body soluble
silicate formulations and elastomeric and silicone membrane
coatings have been tested and found to be totally innocuous
under fire conditions. COSHH data sheets may be supplied
with all of our systems.
Approvals & Testing

All MCL systems are tested by independent, accredited test
houses such as the IMO approved Loss Prevention Council
at Borehamwood and HSE Laboratories at Buxton.

Throughout testing, MCL’s systems have maintained their
integrity, stability and insulation properties and accordingly
carry certification issued by Lloyds Register of Shipping, Det
Norske Veritas or American Bureau of Shipping.

Following a rigorous pre-qualification process and a review of
our company’s quality assurance credentials and financial
stability, MCL have successfully registered with the Achilles
Joint Qualification System
Hydrocarbon Fire Testing
After 2 hours exposure to
temperatures over 1100 degC.
Pipe seal and module seal pre-test.
Jet Fire Testing


Jet fire testing is the most
onerous of all system
qualifications.
The UK’s Health & Safety
Executive Standard OTI 95
634 has been adopted
internationally and more
recently, the ISO 22899-1
standard dictates our test
programmes.

The Benefits of Choosing MCL’s
Firetex Pipe & Module Sealing
Systems

Fully Certified Systems
After extensive and successful
testing, MCL can offer certified
systems to meet A0 & H0 and
H60 to H120 hydrocarbon fire
conditions with blast
overpressures up to 1.35 bar g.
Further enhancements qualify
these systems for J30, J60 and
J120 applications.
The Benefits of Choosing MCL’s
Firetex Pipe & Module Sealing
Systems

Versatile
Beyond standard concentric pipe-in-sleeve arrangements, MCL’s
designers can provide solutions for eccentricity, bend and tee
penetrations, non-sleeve situations and multi-pipe penetrations. A
comprehensive guide is available supported by an extensive
catalogue of data sheets.


Cost Effective
Unlike alternate
‘filler’ type seal
systems, the Firetex
seal is designed to
provide ease of
installation requiring
no special tools or
specialist installer
skills.

The Benefits of Choosing an MCL Enclosure

A Fully Certified System
The MCL enclosure systems have been
extensively tested and certified and have proven
to maintain their integrity throughout the high
temperatures of a hydrocarbon fire and
additionally, the enormously erosive effects of a
jet fire.
The Benefits of Choosing an MCL Enclosure

Cost Effective
MCL design their jacket enclosures with
a close attention to ease of installation.
Fire grade Velcro and stainless steel
worm drive straps and bands, instead of
awkward lacing wires, make the system
simple to install with no need for special
tools or specialist installer skills. Access
panels may be included to enable quick
and easy visual inspections.
The Benefits of Choosing an MCL Enclosure

Durability
The enclosure’s insulation core and
jet fire resistant element are totally
encapsulated in a tough silicone
coated glass cloth giving it
exceptional robustness in a wide
range of environmental conditions.
Nylon quilting studs are used to
ensure that insulation materials
stay firmly in place throughout the
design life of the jacket.
The Benefits of Choosing an MCL Enclosure

Versatility
MCL’s designers can design
their enclosures as jackets
directly fitting to equipment or,
where the subject equipment is
awkward in shape or has
control components attached,
the enclosure may be
designed to fit onto space
frames.
Framed Enclosure - Test
The Benefits of Choosing an MCL Enclosure

Design
Once surveyed, our
engineers are able to
provide 3D CAD
design models to
ensure that our
manufacturing
department can build
each unit confident of
‘right first time’
performance.
