T4L – Cash?
• Since T4L and (CISP) started, allocations
have been based on “points” or “units”
– 1 unit = 1 Windows Desktop PC
– Schools were allocated units based on their
enrolment divided by 8 and split across 4 years
– Laptops, Apple Macs and Servers cost
multiple/fractions of units
– Now, units will be provided as a Cash Value

Engraving Computers
• Previously it was expected that all PCs
were to be engraved with the school’s
name – but changes are occurring:
– Lenovo and Acer have both stated that laptop warranty
repairs will involve a direct swapout
– Schools may receive new or refurbished laptops
as replacements under warranty
– Future desktop warranty claims may be by swapout, but at
present are onsite repairs
• All new computers should NOT be engraved

network AT ALL
• Personal Storage Devices (USB sticks & HDDs):
– OK, but Group Policy DISABLING Autorun should be applied
– Recommend that a FOLDER called Autorun.inf is placed on

Smart Notebook V10 for Mac
• There is a known error being reported by Smart Notebook
V10 relating to Adobe Flash
• If your Mac has Flash 10.1 installed, SMART Notebook is
not happy and raises an error
• Downgrading to Flash 10.0 resolves the issue
• SMART have acknowledged the problem and will release a
fix in Oct/Nov 2010
• SR can deploy a downgrade to fix the issue but websites
that need 10.1 will not work
• Log a call only for IWB computers, specifying the
COMPUTER NAME(s) to be updated and leave them ON.
