Established 2007; Ltd company, charitable status Aims: to reduce energy use in the village; ultimately making the village a zero-carbon, zero-waste community Trading subsidiary: Fintry Renewable Energy Enterprise (FREE) established 2004 FREE has secured ownership of a wind turbine (1 of 15 owned by local developers) Paying for the turbine over 15 years Income: ◦ £50,000-£100,000 per annum while cost of turbine is being repaid ◦ Approx. £400,000 (gross)per annum thereafter Investing income in a project to insulate local homes ◦ 46% of homes have free cavity wall & roof insulation Established 1997; Ltd company, charitable status Consists of villages of Crianlarich & Tyndrum; population 398; few local facilities Grants-based CDT Planted 160,000 trees; purchased c.100 ha of woodland from Forestry Commission Created a play park in Tyndrum Provided low-cost rental housing for local residents You have seen what a CDT is and what can be achieved What does OUR COMMUNITY need?
