SPECIFIC MINISTRY PASTOR
TRAINING
• Concordia Seminary St. Louis and
Concordia Theological Seminary Ft. Wayne
began classes in September. Thirty eight
(38) students are enrolled.
• Interest has been demonstrated by four men
in the Nebraska District.
• No applications in Nebraska for 2009.
Lay Leadership Program
– Classroom and on-line training by Concordia University
professors and District pastors for those who have been
identified by their pastors to assist their pastors in
specific lay roles:
• Youth ministry, new member assimilation, visitation, outreach
organization, etc.
– Pre-Specific Ministry Pastor class
preparation to apply for the Seminaries’
programs

• Rev. Rich Boring and Rev. Mike Gruhn have completed
TCN consultant and coach certifcation.
• Modifications to TCN for Nebraska are being made
through pilot testing.
• Atonement in Omaha and Trinity Lincoln have each tested
the TCN consultation weekend.
• Next test will occur among rural and small town
congregations.
Rural and Small Town Ministry
• November 5-7 Synod-wide Rural and Small Town Ministry
Conference was conducted at Nebraska City
– Good ideas for the future of rural and small town ministries.
Special focus on multiple parish ministries.
• National Rural and Small Town Ministry Missionary-atLarge to be called by LCMS Board of Mission Services
• LCMS World Mission has formed a
National Rural and Small Town Missions Committee.
Stewardship
• District Stewardship Committee is at work.
• Surveyed District congregations and pastors to
learn current stewardship activities and needs.
• Provided 3 Regional Fiscal Conferences in August
• Will provide stewardship resource
information throughout the District.

• A joint effort by LCMS World Relief and Human Care and

• The LCMS is one of the first national church bodies to
address the role congregations can play in
helping reserve soldiers with their
return from war.

Concordia University Nebraska

1717 undergraduate and graduate students from 43 states and several foreign countries.

Concordia is a leader in preparing professional workers for The Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod. 25% of all LCMS professional workers.

Nearly 90 percent of Concordia’s health professions and pre-law graduates are accepted
by medical and law colleges
•
Concordia's student/faculty ratio is 14:1
•
Concordia has more than 50 undergraduate programs and numerous pre-professional
programs from which to choose -- majors range from art to education, chemistry and
theology, and many other disciplines in-between
•
Nearly 98 percent of Concordia’s students receive financial assistance
•
Recently opened a degree completion and graduate program at a Lincoln Concordia site
in the Fallbrook development.
