Which competences are needed to give succesful study and educational support to poor families? 2. What have professionals learned from giving study and educational support to poor children at home during their training? What skills (competences) were acquired? 3. Are there differences between disciplines (teachers, social workers)? 4. Are there differences between professionals who have provided study support during their studies and those who have not? 2.2. Research objectives 1. Increasing knowledge about the significance of real life experiences on the career of young professionals, and more specifically on their competences to deal with underprivileged children and their families. 2. Giving input to ‘the Pulley’ and to the curricula of young professionals. 2.3. Target Group • 1. Professional helpers and teachers who have at least one year experience with underprivileged children and families ▫ Half of them have given study support in the Pulley ▫ Half of them have never given study support in the Pulley • 2. Quantitative research Question 3 and 4: between group differences an online questionnaire based on the results of the qualitative research Sample: 140 respondents: 70 who gave study support and 70 who didn’’t matching for gender, year of graduation and profession (teachers, social workers) 4.
