Crawford Andrew Jackson ELECTION OF 1824 No one won the necessary amount of votes. It went to House of Representatives John Quincy Adams wins THE ELITE VS. THE SELF MADE MAN John Quincy Adams was very prim and proper. Only a third of voters voted for him! The new mass democracy was insulted by his “elitist” manner. This shows the growing power of the “common man” THE ELECTION OF 1828 “Democrats” – new political party supporting Jackson Hostility to corporations, tariffs, banks, and the American System.
