A New Way
A New Style of Life
A New identity: Sons
• Sons, not slaves
• Break through false identities based on
wealth, race, caste….
• Recovery of the true self
A new Family
• Multiple belongingness of life
• Where do I truly belong?
• To my tribe?
• Family?
• Nation?
• Club?
• Radically belonging to the Lord
What is CMF for me?
The less I am a son, the less I will be a brother to others
A new Style
• What kind of style of life have I chosen?
• Traditional/liberal
• Modern style: consumerist, stressful,
activism..
• Paranoic, histrionic, obsessive compulsive,
dependent…?
• Is there a style that respond to our form of
life? An alternative, counter-cultural,
prophetic?
• Human default style: seeking meaning for life
Four false Refuges
• pleasure
•
•
•
•
•
Drugs, stimulants
Sex
Rhythm
Play (games)
speed
• Conformism: Carried away by
convention; do what others do, in crisis fall
back to the crowd
• Work: do something to be useful
• Violence: sadism, masochism
These are false
refuges. They do
not solve the
problem of
lonliness
Love in our life
•
•
•
•
•
Love because we are loved
Not infatuation (closeness alone)
Not just duty (cold heart)
Both closeness and separation
Not lonliness, but solitude
A man on fire
Desires…
• riches, power,
status, love
with God’s love
• To set everyone on
fire with God’s love
Delights in…
possessions
Welcomes…
leisure
work
Embraces…
comforts
sacrifices
Smiles at…
admiration
slander
Rejoices in…
gifts & awards
Glories in..
Achievements
privations
Torments and sorrows

When not grounded in the CMF spirit
• Spiritual migration
• Spiritual orphanage:
One likes the founder.
But looks elsewhere for
spiritual nourishment
• Flight to attractive religious
movements:
• Indegenous spirituality
• Popular devotions
• Oriental spirituality
• New Movements
• PRH, Enneogram, Pranic
• Clerical Spirituality
But enriching each other is different from emigrating
Spirituality as a Unique “face” that
reveals the mystery of God
• What is our
claretian Face in
the Church and
the World?
How do I come across to
others as a cmf?
