Background: Barry University School of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE)

 Created as Adult Learner Focused School  Offers eight week terms, night & weekend sessions, on line options, “one-stop shopping” etc.

 Involved in Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) since 1970s  Encourages many PLA Options  Seeks out Partnerships

What is a partnership?

A legal agreement between Barry University and another organization that provides an opportunity to market ACE programs according to a negotiated contract.

Tuition is discounted to state rate and awarded as a scholarship.

Tuition discount is extended to spouse or significant other living in same household.

Discount is also extended to adult, dependent children living in the same household if they meet the ACE admittance criteria.

Must meet public safety student eligibility criteria.

Partnership Challenges

Ten Steps For Initiating Partnerships

 1. Process is managed by the Assistant Dean of Corporate Relationship Management.

 3. Meeting is held.

 4. Written agreement is drafted.

 2. Lead is generated by Assistant Dean of Corporate Relationship or Recruiters et al. Contact is made and meeting is set up.

 5. Agreement reviewed by ACE Director of Business Process.

Ten Steps For Initiating Partnerships continued

 6. Reviewed agreement sent to Dean for approval.

 7. Approved agreement sent to university’s legal department.

 9. Director of Business Process sends agreement to partnership initiator for partner approval.

 8. If approved, legal obtains necessary university signatures.

 10. Fully executed agreement is returned to Director of Business Process and discount code is created.

NB: Constant dialogue between parties to reinforce commitment!
