• Wood handle

Parts
Use
• Vegetation Fires
– Scraping- scrape grass or vegetation to
mineral soil.
– Cutting- cut or clear light brush
– Raking- rake tines can be used to remove
debris
• Structure Fires
– Can be used to move debris
Maintenance
• Handle
– Inspect for cracks, splinters, straightness, etc.
– Sand if necessary
– Apply boiled linseed oil
• Head
– Inspect head for cracks, burrs, chips, etc.
– Inspect rake tines for cracks, chips, etc.
– Sharpen at a 45 degree angle

When passing tool, pass handle first
