3 Different types of liquids
3 Different Bottles (to put liquids in)
1 Measuring cup (measure liquids)
6 Labels (To label bottles and stopwatches)
Freezer
3 Stopwatches(to time liquids freeze, one for
each liquid)
Question and Hypothesis
• How does the type of liquid affect the time it takes for it to
freeze?
• As the liquid has more ingredients, then the time it takes to
freeze will be longer because the added things will take longer to
freeze.
Procedure
1. Set up like diagram
2. Put one cup of each liquid in the bottles
3. Put bottles in freezer (start stopwatch)
4. Check liquid every 20 minutes (record info)
5.When liquid is solid take out freezer
6. Record how long it took to freezer
7. Repeat steps 1-5 for trials 2 and 3
VARIBLES
• MV: Type of liquid
• RV: Time it takes to freeze
• CV: Amount of water in
bottles
• CV: Type of bottles

Abstract
1. The purpose of me doing this experiment is to find out if the
orange juice, Pepsi, and water will freeze first.
2. I believed that the water would freeze first.
3. There was no major errors in my project it was just hard to
check it every 20 minutes.
I learned that the more sugar and acid in a drink the longer it
will take to freeze.
Conclusion
I thought that if the drink had more sugar and acid
in it, it will take longer to freeze. My results showed that
my hypothesis was right. I can prove this because the
water took 55:09 to freeze and the Pepsi took 72:26 to
freeze. So if I was to do the experiment over the
Pepsi would take the longest and the water the fastest.
Background Information
• Freezing point of water is 32 degrees F
• Freezers temperature 0-30 degrees F
• Freezing point of orange juice is 0 degrees
C
• Any liquid with sugar and acid in it will
take longer to freeze
• Water freezes faster than orange juice
and Pepsi
• Pop takes longer to freeze because of the
acid
