The Church
• Currently our church seats 700, including the balcony. By
reconfiguring the church we will gain 150 seats, totaling 850 seats.
• We will add a daily Mass chapel which will also serve as a cry room.
• The Blessed Sacrament is not visible to most worshippers. We will
add a new Blessed Sacrament Shrine where the present main
entrance doors are now. We will also add a new outdoor shrine
where the main steps are.
The Narthex
• The new narthex will provide restrooms, candle or shrine rooms,
additional seating for major holidays, a sacristy etc.
• An elevator will provide handicap accessibility by connecting the
parking lot level, the church level and basement level which will
serve as the new parish center.
• Connecting the new narthex to the parking lot will be a small plaza
offering us a safe and attractive passageway and an outdoor space
for liturgical rites.
The Church Basement
Our New Parish Center
• The new space beneath the new narthex will become an
all-in-one place parish center with space for:
– Office areas for priests, deacons, administrative staff
and various ministry offices.
– A large conference room dividable into three separate
rooms.
– A small kitchen and two restrooms.
PARKING
• We have limited parking and even the property the
parish purchased in 2002 is not enough; we need more
space.
• Removing the rectory for more parking will be visually
aesthetic, offering a full view of the new church/narthex
and more practical use of our limited property.
• We will also retrieve the spaces lost for our new narthex.

THE CHURCH OF SAINT MARY
“Recapture The Dream”
TOTAL CAPITAL NEED……………………....$2,000,000
I am confident that together we can
reach our goal and
Recapture The Dream
The restructuring of Saint Mary Church is looking forward but not forgetting the past. The beautiful
stained-glass windows taken from the original Church and carefully secured in the walls under the present
Church will be incorporated into the ‘new’ building for all parishioners to enjoy their beauty and learn from
them the lesson each window depicts.
–Nan Mulcahy
The new plans for the up-dating of the church building will make more efficient use of the plant. I look
forward to adequate work space for the rectory staff and volunteers. It will make us all aware of our
community and its members.
-John Zaremba
How great it will be to mark the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Saint Mary with a magnificent new
look for the church that wasn’t supposed to be a church. I think the best feature of the proposed
renovation is the narthex with its gathering space. Without words it will say WELCOME.

After living in Rutherford for over 40 years, we had to relocate to Lyndhurst. I know it is only a town away
but my roots are still with Saint Mary. No matter how many other parishes are available to me, there is
only one I can call “home.” How wonderful and exciting it is to be a part of future changes that will not
only beautify the Church of Saint Mary but make available to the parish a more functional building with an
elevator, meeting rooms, offices, narthex, etc. I am happy to be a part of the capital campaign.
-Kathy Bartolomeo
We have fond memories of Saint Mary parish. Like so many before us, we graduated from elementary
and high school and were married in this church. Our shore parish built a church in the ‘round’ last year.
This change was dramatic. It’s our hope that the changes in store for us will add a new dimension to our
home and enhance our worship.

I have been a life-long member of Saint Mary Parish. I grew up attending school (K-12) and church here.
Over the years I have seen so many changes take place as our parish evolved. I look forward to the new
changes about to come which will only help to enhance my spiritual home.

Prayer For The Success Of Our Parish Campaign
The Memorare
Remember, O Most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto you,
O Virgin of Virgins my Mother.
To you I come,
before you I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but, in your mercy, hear and answer me.
AMEN
