The MSA consists of 11 full time students who sit on our board of
directors.
We have 12 full time staff and hire over 100 students each
year.
We have offices at all
campuses.

Mission Statement
The Mohawk Student’s Association exists for the betterment of all fulltime fee paying students of Mohawk College. Proudly offering quality
services, activities and facilities designed to satisfy the ever changing
needs of all members and all campuses.
We’re here to support students outside the classroom!

Health & Dental Plan
• Students pay an annual fee ($170) for 70-100% coverage
(prescriptions/dental/optical, etc.)
• Easy claims online or in our Health Plan Office (G110)
• Used to be $11/year and could only recover 70% of prescriptions
The current plan is far more robust!

HSR Bus Pass
• Each student pays a mandatory fee of $126.15 and receives a
sticker on their OneCard to board any HSR bus
• Was passed by referendum in 2011

Computer Tech Repair (Sept. 2013)
• We’ve renovated the Clubs Room G008 and are making way for a
Tech Repair Facility
• Students will be able to have electronics serviced on-site (cheaper
than Big Box stores)
• It will be an Apple certified repair facility (on-site)

safety and security of our staff &
students.
Security is responsible for:
• Maintaining a safe and secure learning and working environment
• Staff consists of an Operations Supervisor, a Security Systems
Specialist and 30 Contract Security Officers from Paragon Security
• Issuing parking permits and enforcement
• Crime prevention on campus
• Safety in the community
• Good relationship with Hamilton police
• Promote good relations between students and neighbors
Things you should know….
Emergency Lockdown
• Triggered by internal threat
• Alert by security broadcast on campus PA system and internal TV
screens
• Text, Voice and email alerts from SAM together with ‘popups’ on
computer screens to augment the communication
• What you should do:
• Get to a safe place (office/classroom), lock door, turn out lights and stay
quiet (turn off cell phones)
• Leave the building if you can and get away from the campus
