3GPP GERAN activities 1/3
■ During 3GPP GERAN #59 several Change Requests were approved
■ CR to TS 45.001 - High level description of frequency band and RF channels
■ CR to TS 45.005 - Description of the RF parameters to be used over the new 3 MHz
■ CR to TS 45.008 - Corrections needed with the use of ER-GSM 900 term in TS 45.005
■ CR to TR 45.050 - Summary of the coexistence studies captured in this report
■ CR to TS 24.008 - New indicator in the Classmark 3 for ER-GSM MS signalling
■ Compromise found between public and railway operators
■ Conditions to use ER-GSM spectrum in case of uncoordinated deployment of new ER-GSM equipment close to a
legacy equipment already deployed in E-GSM band described in TS 45.005 (see next slide)
■ In case of coordinated deployment higher output power can be allowed
ER-GSM standardisation major milestone accomplished with the compromise found at GERAN level

3GPP GERAN activities 3/3
■ All "Core Specifications" finalized, Test Specifications remaining
■ CR to TS 51.010 - Test Cases for ER-GSM mobiles
■ CR to TS 51.021 - Test Cases for ER-GSM base stations
■ Test Specifications important for Harmonized Standards
■ Test Cases are needed in EN 301 502 and 301 511 to demonstrate compliance of equipment covering the
essential requirements of article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive
■ ETSI Technical Committee in charge of those EN is MSG

CEPT/ECC discussions
■ 3GPP GERAN liaised about ER-GSM CRs approval (Aug. 2013)
■ 3GPP RAN4 and ETSI TC MSG for the specification part
■ ECC PT1 and ECC WG FM for the regulatory part
■ ECC PT1 liaised back (Sept. 2013)
■ Asking for clarifications about the working assumptions used to derive the ER-GSM RF parameters, in particular
■ Attenuation slope 6 and 11 dB/MHz
■ Minimum Coupling Loss between ER-GSM BS and UTRA/E-UTRA BS
■ 3GPP GERAN provided answers (Nov. 2013)
■ Feedback on working assumptions for attenuation slope and Minimum Coupling Loss
