Abstract
Where are we now in the IT industry and what are the mega trends impacting this
industry globally ? What opportunities do they create? The talk will focus on the
current economic situation, the global reaction to the meltdown and its impact on this
sector of economy.
About the speaker
Som Mittal obtained his B.Tech. from IIT, Kanpur and did his Masters in
Business Administration from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has a rich and wide
ranging work experience of over 30 years in Corporate India. Some of the
prominent positions he held are: Head of Services business for Hewlett
Packard in Asia Pacific and Japan, Managing Director of Digital/Compaq
and Chief Executive with Wipro. He has played an active role in the
formulation and implementation of Karnataka's IT policy.
Mr Mittal has received a number of awards and honours for his outstanding
contributions to the Indian IT industry, including Distinguished Alumnus Award by IIT
Kanpur, Business Leader of the Year and Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International and
a Fellowship by the Computer Society of India.
