• Individual ID # on each stick • Tracking capabilities (where, when, how long, who distributed it, etc.) • Staff follow-up of and monitoring of Ambassador stick enquiries • The # of sticks distributed Ambassador Program …And the results to date • 140 Ambassadors • 45% of the sticks were used “on-line” • The average number of links consulted was 3.2 • 96 - Click for a response within 1 Business Day Brownfields Programs May 13, 2010 CIP – Eligible Areas Brownfields Programs ERASE Study Grant (ESG) ERASE Redevelopment Grant (ERG) ERASE Tax Assistance Program (TAP) ERASE Municipal Acquisition and Partnership Program (MAPP) NEW: Downtown West Harbourfront Remediation Loan Pilot Program ERASE Study Grant Program • Increasing the City’s maximum contribution towards the matching Phase II or Phase III ESA grant from $15,000 to $20,000 per study & from $20,000 to $25,000 max. per property • This is partially in response to MOE’s amendments to O. Reg. 153/04 & new regulations governing Site Assessments” (pg. 29) New Remediation Loan Pilot Program • Downtown and West Harbourfront • Committee approved draft terms of program on October 14th, 2009 • Component to ERASE Redevelopment Grant Program & Hamilton Downtown Property Improvement Grant Program to encourage residential / commercial redevelopment Details of New Program • Low interest loan (1% below prime established at first advance) equal to 75% of cost to remediate (eligible costs established under ERG) • Maximum of $100,000 per property • Paid back with ERG or Downtown Property Improvement grant • ERG or Property Improvement grant only flows to owner when loan paid in full LEEDs Programs May 13, 2010 Hamilton LEEDing the Way • Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) • Community Improvement Plan (CIP) provide incentives for “green” developments within the urban area of the City of Hamilton • Designed to improve economic (cost competitiveness), social & environmental conditions throughout the CIP Project Area Expansion • Expansion of the CIP project area to the entire urban area (mirror that of the ERASE CIP project area) LEED Grant Program (LGP) • City to share (50%) the incremental construction cost, consultation, energy modeling & certification fees with the applicant to achieve LEED certification (eligible costs based on level of LEED certification achieved) • A five year grant in an amount which does not exceed 75% of the municipal realty tax increase as a result of the LEED development LEED Grant (Example) • Total Construction Cost = $39,000,000 • Cost for LEED Gold = $1,950,000 • Eligible incremental construction cost City’s Share (50% to a maximum) = $975,000 • Plus energy modeling, consultation and certification fees (at 50%) = $375,000 • Total eligible costs = $1,350,000 LEED Grant (Example) • Municipal Tax Increment (Differential between pre-project property taxes and estimated post-project property taxes) = $699,348 • Max. grant payment in year one ($699,348 X 75%) = $524,511 • Therefore Owner receives $524,511 for 3 years up to total eligible cost of $1,350,000 LEEDs Grant Benefits • The local environment (less potable water use, less solid waste, less energy consumption, reduces the impact of the building, etc.) • Cost competitiveness (energy, water) • Hamilton’s Image Additional Land Uses • Addition of LEED certified mixed-use and multi-unit residential (as defined in Part 3 Group C - of the Building Code) developments/redevelopments in addition to industrial & commercial as the new project area encompasses additional land uses • Grant now also assignable to initial purchaser of any Condo Unit (same as Hamilton Downtown Property Improvement Grant Program & ERASE Redevelopment Grant Program Downtown Programs 260-280 King St. E. - Before 260-280 King St. E. - After 1 Hunter St. E. - Before 1 Hunter St. E. - After CIP – Eligible Areas Hamilton Downtown Property Improvement Grant Program Purpose: Five year grant, in an amount not exceeding the increase in municipal realty taxes as a direct result of the development or redevelopment of the land and/or building (former Enterprise Zone) Hamilton Downtown Multi-Residential Property Investment Program Purpose: To provide financial assistance for projects that result in predominantly residential development including converting existing commercial space into residential units;
