Campus Awareness Response Evaluation
The CARE Team:
• assesses, & responds to concerns, threats, or
events affecting the rights & safety of students
& the GRU community
• meets weekly to review CARE reports, the
need for intervention, & monitor cases
• may convene when a crisis occurs that
requires immediate intervention
Our Responsibility- Awareness
• Everyone should be aware of the signs of Distressed Students:
– Excessive nervousness, tension or emotions
– Lack of energy, falling asleep in class, listlessness
– Excessive absences or withdrawal & isolation
– Notable changes in hygiene, appearance, & weight
– Significant decline in quality of class work
– Bizarre and situation-inappropriate behavior
– Aggressive behavior including threats to others
– Expressions of suicide or intent to harm others
Our Responsibility- Action
• Everyone should act appropriately to help Distressed Students:
• IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION- call 911 for a medical emergency and
then call Public Safety 706-721-2911
– When a crisis or dramatic event requires an immediate response to
prevent or intervene in threats to life or safety
• SUBMIT A CARE REPORT / TELL SOMEONE –
When early, subtle, but obvious signs of stress are exhibited
