Safety regulations
• Applies to everyone within the refinery area
• Violations may lead to refusal of entry
• Obligation to report
– Gas or oil leak
– Fire or risk of fire
– Person in danger
– Violation of safety regulations
• Access to refinery area
– Visitors must have a guide at all times
– Visit will start and end at reception (or lower gate)

Safety regulations
Traffic
• Speed limit 20 km/h or less
• No parking
– Within 10 m from fire hydrant
– Within 3 m from piping
– Within classifed area
• No smoking outside smoking-rooms
• No alcohol or drugs
• Photography requires a permit

Hazardous substances – hydrogen sulphide
• Colourless gas, very toxic by inhalation, extremely flammable, acidic
• Smell of rotten eggs at low concentrations (from 0.015 ppm)
• Hygienic limit 10 ppm (8 hour) and 15 ppm (15 min)
• Alarms in the process area
– Attention (H2S-concentration 10 ppm), flashing red or yellow lights
– Evacuation (H2S-concentration 90 ppm): rapidly intermittent sound
alarm NOTE alarm is tested every weekday at 9 am
