Path forward.
Need for Revision
• New under graduate programs ( ISE and
CISE)
• Relevance.
• New trends in the discipline.
Input for Revision
• Employer, Alumni and graduating students input.
• The input received from the Department
Industrial Advisory Committee (IAD).
• Review of top international programs in the area
of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
• The current strengths and weaknesses of the
existing programs.
• The upgrade of the IE/OR option to a BS program
in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
Features of Proposed Programs

Analytic: the program provides students with
advance courses in modeling and analysis. These
courses are: SE 501: Deterministic Operations
Research, SE 502 Stochastic models in IE.
Several master programs that are needed by
industry, however all programs have a common
thread.
Interdisciplinary approach that utilizes existing
courses in other graduate programs.
Providing a wide variety of electives in different
areas of concentration with flexibility in electives
selection.
Programs Proposed
The MS programs are in the following areas:
• Industrial Engineering and Operations Research.
• Maintenance and Engineering and Management.
• Supply Chain Management?.
• Plus the Ph.D in ISE.
Each MS will have two major core courses in
addition to four courses from the program area and
two electives free electives

Important Questions for Feedback
•
Do we need to offer all programs in the MA and ME modes.
• Can we afford to offer all three programs although there is a
plan by some faculty to offer the supply chain in a different
mode than the regular mode?
•
Is the structure of the programs reasonable?
•
How many additional resources is needed so student can
complete their MS in two years? Can we recruit the needed
faculty members?.
•
Do you have any comments?
Path Forward
• Divide the courses among groups according to areas to revise,
update and propose new courses:
• OR group: (Selim, Darwish, Malick, Chawki, Al-Salama)
• IE group
• Production and Quality ( Al-Fares, Andijani, Al-Turki)
• Saftey and Human Factor ( Haboubi, Ayar, Haroun) .
• Maintenance group ( Duffuaa, Ben Daya, Selim) .
• Supply chain group ( Ben Daya, Hesham, Malick, outside )
Courses will provided before break we need revised courses by end
