Background information
a. American women in the working world
More than 50% of the women over 16 years old in the
labor force, full or part time. They hold more than 42%
of all the jobs in the nation. Most women still employed
in traditional jobs : clerical, sales and service, etc.
b. The cost of attending colleges in the US
A student at a state college or university doesn’t have to
pay very much if his or her parents live in that state. But
private colleges and universities can be very expensive.
