UNIT: EARLY YEARS OF REPUBLIC &
THE EXPANDING NATION (1789-1830)





The Unit is comprised of five chapters (The
Federalist Era, The Age of Jefferson, The
Nation Grows, The Age of Jackson, The
Manifest Destiny)
I will explain in brief what I expect to teach
I will be guided by four questions
At the end of this presentation you will be
required to give a feedback whether I have
answered the questions correctly.

What happened after the war of 1812 –Revolutionary
War.
Organization of the new government
Causes and effects of internal and foreign
challenges to the new government
Political leadership in the first decade of the 19th
Century (Presidents)
The changing of economic patterns through the
introduction of cotton gin
Reform movements in political and economic
spheres that led into the war with Mexico

Open ended questions will be asked during the
instruction (effective questioning to stimulate your
learning)
Quizzes will be given at the end of each chapter
Class activities will be given to monitor the
understanding of students
You will be required to work on the project in the
computer laboratory (Multimedia Presentation)
Exam will be given at the end of the unit
